Fire Ants or Solenopsis, are a real problem pest in Central Texas. The high reproductive rate of this species creates a large population among the colonies. A single colony can have over 250,000 workers! Combine this large number with the aggressive inherent nature of these ants and you have something to worry about. Fire Ants are capable of stinging and injecting venom into its' prey. The stings' are very painful, and multiple stings are capable of killing small animals.
The sting of a Fire Ant is very painful and can cause bumps and swelling over the body.

Fire Ants create mounds out of the soil which distinguishes their nest site. If disturbed, Fire Ants become aggressive and move their queen to a safe location.
