The Roof rat or Rattus rattus, is black to brown, 7 to 10
inches in length with a long tail. Smaller and more slender
than the Norway Rat. This species is an excellent climber
and can enter many areas of a structure. Very agile, can fit
through entry ways as small as a 1/2 inch. Generally nest
inside a home or building, although will nest in wood or
rubbish. Also the carrier of many serious diseases.
